Music Meme: Favorite Instrumental
I'm not generally a big fan of instrumental music. I tend to prefer songs with a plot, and that usually requires lyrics. But there are a few instrumental songs I've come to like over the years. The first is Black Mountain Rag, which was on a CD I listened to constantly growing up. Here's the legendary Doc Watson performing it:

Pink Floyd has done some incredible instrumental work. While a lot of their work is backed by insanely good lyrics, every now and again they just rock out. I particularly love Marooned from Division Bell and One of These Days from

In other fun works, The Flaming Lips released two versions of their 2006 album At War with the Mystics, one with lyrics and one without. I would say that I have listened to each of them an equal number of times.
Also, there is too much jazz to even begin discussing.
